Saugutuck

Happy Memorial Day!

We had a very fun long weekend. It all started on Saturday. We woke up late and got moving slowly. Out of the blue, we decided to head to Saugatuck Dunes and town. We took off to the Saugatuck State Dunes Park first. There was rain in the afternoon forecast so we wanted to get the hiking out of the way. We arrived and took a 2.5 mile trail to the beach through the sand dunes. It was awesome. The kids walked the whole way. We arrived at the beach and the skies were clear blue. The sun was out and the temps were in the low 60s. It was beautiful!!! We played on the edge of the water and lived it up. We even enjoyed exploring nature on the way to the beach and back. There is a movie of our trip located here:

Once we finished at the beach and dunes, we were off to the town of Saugatuck. Saugatuck is a little coastal town that is known for it’s little crafty shops and arts. I love it because of the English Pub (Shepherd’s Pie). The kids loved it as well. We then walked around and stopped to buy some fudge. Another hit. All in all, it was one very terrific day.

Today, Paula spent much of the day working on painting the basement and shoveling and laying mulch outside. I took the kids to see the movie, “Madagascar.” The kids loved it. We then headed off to the ice-cream store and bought some goodies.

Needless-to-say, we will all get to sleep early tonight.
